Tamansari Water Castel is a magnificent historical site located just southwest of the Yogyakarta Sultanate Palace (Kraton) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the mid-18th century under the reign of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I, the site originally spanned a vast area featuring artificial lakes, beautiful gardens, and sophisticated architecture. Translating literally to "beautiful garden," Taman Sari served multiple functions for the royal family—as a resting fortress, a meditation center, a hideout, and a private bathing complex.
